Lilian - I always have had better results getting meat crispy from deep frying. It's important to make sure you let the beef sit for awhile after you coat it so the cornstarch sticks. If you are worried about the sauce having an effect on the crispy beef, just serve the sauce seperatly. However, the method you are presenting may be worth a try.

If i were not to deep fry the beef but instead marinate it in 1 tbsp cornstarch, a lil bit of soy sauce and pepper and then pan sear it would it be better? Cos i am afraid the beef may not be crispy after mixing in the sauce and searing the beef may make it more tender. Which would be better?

P.S. Recipe sounds like a great one btw.

I made this for dinner last night. It was terrific! I doubled the sauce so we had extra for the rice. This one is a keeper!

Bobby, you came through again! I was driving to work, trying to think of something to cook for dinner. I actually thought that there may be something from Blogchef in my inbox. Sure enough, the Orange Beef was there. I followed this closer than I have any recipe, other than baking, and it was great. Thanks again for sharing. Rick.

I wonder why you couldn't use this recipe and use chicken in place of the beef. Sounds delish.
