Description

Szechuan noodles recipe with tender steak, noodles, and a spicy garlic ginger sauce made with hoisin and sesame oil for a quick, flavorful meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1lb flank steak
  • 2 teaspoons minced fresh garlic
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (or more, to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 8 ounces vermicelli (cooked)
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add vermicelli and cook according to package directions. Drain and set aside. While the noodles are cooking, slice steak against the grain thinly into strips.  In a large wok or skillet heat sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add red pepper flakes, garlic, and ginger and stir fry for 10 seconds. Add the sliced steak and stir fry for about 5 minutes.
  2. Combine cornstarch and beef broth and whisk until smooth. Stir the beef broth mixture, hoisin sauce, and soy sauce into the pan with the steak. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly for about 1 minute or until the mixture is thick and bubbly.
  3. Toss the steak and sauce mixture with the cooked hot noodles. Sprinkle with sliced green onions.
