This Asian lettuce wraps recipe is easy to prepare with ingredients you may already have on hand. The only thing I had to buy to make this was the water chestnuts, which are readily available at Walmart or any grocery store. (You can buy them on Amazon, too, but I wouldn’t recommend it. The prices are crazy high for some reason.)
Ingredients
– 16 butter lettuce leaves – 1 lb ground turkey – 1 tablespoon oil – 1 large onion, chopped – 2 garlic cloves, minced – 1 tablespoon soy sauce – ¼ cup hoisin sauce – 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar – 1 teaspoon hot chili oil – 8 oz. canned, sliced water chestnuts – 1 bunch green onions, chopped – 2 tablespoons dark sesame oil
Ingredients

1. Rinse the lettuce leaves and pat them dry. Chop the onion and green onion and mince the garlic.
2. Mix garlic, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, vinegar, and chili oil in a small bowl and set aside.
3. In a different bowl, mix the water chestnuts, green onions, and sesame oil. Set aside.
4. Heat a medium skillet. Add 1 tablespoon of oil. Add ground turkey and cook, while breaking the meat into pieces with a wooden spoon. Once the turkey is fully cooked, remove the meat using a slotted spoon.
5. Add onions to pan and stir fry for 4 minutes until they start to look translucent. Add the garlic, soy sauce mixture to the pan. Stir to mix well. Add in the water chestnuts, green onions, and sesame oil. Continue cooking and stirring gently.
6. Add the turkey back into the skillet and stir to combine.
7. Pile the meat mixture into the center of each lettuce leaf. Serve and enjoy.
