Stovetop Pepper Steak (4 Servings)

Ingredients

Scale
  • One pound top round beef, sliced
  • Two tablespoons vegetable oil
  • One onion, large and sliced
  • One green bell pepper, sliced
  • One red bell pepper, sliced

Sauce

  • ¾ cup water
  • ¼ cup honey
  • Three tablespoons soy sauce
  • Two tablespoons cornstarch
  • One tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • One tablespoon minced garlic
  • One tablespoon Mirin
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Blend the sauce ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
  2. Bring a cast-iron skillet to high heat, and add two tablespoons of oil. Pour in the sliced bell peppers and onions, and stir-fry for five minutes. Pour into a plate and set aside.
  3. Spread beef strips evenly on a skillet and cook for one minute, so the sides downwards sear. Stir the beef strips and allow them to cook for another three minutes. Lower the heat to medium.
  4. Add the onions, peppers, and sauce to the beef strips. Stir well, and let it cook for two to three minutes- the sauce should be thickened by then. Set the pan down, and serve as you please.
