Now we shall get into three methods of cooking jalapeños
Method 1: Roasting Jalapeños
Jalapeños can be roasted in an Oven through the following steps:
- Firstly, before you begin, make sure you wear disposable gloves. Then preheat your broiler. Slice the jalapeños in half horizontally, and make sure you slice off the stems from the jalapeños.
- Make sure you scrape and remove the seeds inside the jalapeños, but you can leave the seeds in there if you want a spicy dish.
- Take a little baking sheet with foil and take the seeded or scraped jalapeños and place the opened side to face down, while the skin side will face up, and then place them onto the baking sheet.
- Put the baking sheet in the oven, and make sure that it is 3-4 inches from the preheated broiler. Allow the peppers to roast for about 3-4 minutes until the skin becomes blistered and is charred. There should be just a few areas of the pepper looking green; the rest of the skin should be mostly black. Carefully monitor the peppers, and to ensure that the peppers don’t dry out and become too difficult to peel, don’t let them roast for too long.
- The next step is to steam the peppers after roasting them for 15 minutes to make them easier to peel, which will soften the skin.
- Remove the burnt skin from the peppers after steaming. Make sure your gloves remain on even after roasting. If you have sensitive skin, the capsaicin can still burn you.
- After steaming and peeling, let them rest a bit, and then you can now serve them or eat them with another dish.
Method 2: Grilling Jalapeños
Jalapeños can be grilled through the following steps:
- Prepare an outdoor grill and preheat it to high.
- Use cooking oil to brush the grates.
- Place the whole jalapeños on your grill and to prevent your peppers from burning, make sure you use tongs.
- Close the grill lid and cook the jalapeños for about 2 to 3 minutes.
- Turn the sides of the jalapeños peppers and let them cook for 2 to 3 more minutes.
- For the last time, turn the jalapeños and let them cook for an extra 2 to 3 minutes.
- After grilling the jalapeños, remove them from the grill and let them cool down slightly before you serve them.
