Sometimes making pizza dough from scratch takes more time than you want to spend, and that’s when taco French bread pizza comes in handy. By using a loaf of French bread as the crust, you get a shortcut that still bakes up crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, which makes a great base for toppings. The bread is spread with refried beans, layered with taco-seasoned ground beef, and finished with cheese, tomatoes, olives, and green onions for that familiar taco flavor in every bite. Because it comes together quickly and doesn’t require much prep, this recipe is perfect for busy nights when you still want something warm and homemade.
Why this recipe works
- Quick but tasty base: Using French bread as the crust saves time, and it also creates a sturdy base that holds the toppings while giving you a nice mix of crunch and softness.
- Taco flavors in pizza form: The refried beans and taco-seasoned beef bring the classic taste of tacos, while the cheese, tomatoes, and olives round out the flavors in a way that feels fun and familiar.
- Simple preparation: Since most of the work is browning the meat and assembling the toppings, you can have the pizza ready for the oven in just minutes.
- Melty, cheesy finish: Baking the pizza melts the Colby-jack cheese into the toppings, which ties everything together and makes it extra comforting.
- Family-friendly appeal: The flavors are ones that kids and adults both enjoy, making this an easy dinner option that feels playful and customizable.

Serving suggestions
- Pair with sides: Serve slices with a small salad or chips and salsa to keep the taco theme going and make the meal more filling.
- Offer toppings at the table: Place bowls of sour cream, salsa, jalapeños, or guacamole on the side so everyone can add a little extra flavor to their slice.
- Make it a casual dinner: Cut the pizza into smaller portions and set it out family-style, which makes it fun for everyone to grab a piece at the table.
- Great for gatherings: Because it’s easy to slice and serve, this recipe works well for parties, game nights, or even as an appetizer for larger meals.
- Enjoy fresh from the oven: The pizza is best served hot while the cheese is melted and the bread still has that crisp edge, so try to serve it right after baking.
