If you are looking for a delicious and sweet treat you will probably want to make this simple cinnamon swirl bread. This recipe uses ingredients that you probably already have on hand and is very easy to prepare. The bread is prepared and then baked into the oven. Once the bread cooks, you top it off with a simple glaze — made of powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract.

How to make easy cinnamon swirl bread

1. Prep your loaf pan and cinnamon sugar

Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees F (177 degrees C). Then grease a 9×5 loaf pan.

You can also mix your cinnamon and sugar, which is responsible for much of this bread’s sweet flavor.

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 teaspoons of cinnamon (or more if you like a heavy cinnamon flavor)

2. Mix your “bread” batter

We call it cinnamon bread, but it’s really cinnamon cake, right? That’s why it comes together with a simple combo of eggs, flour, baking soda, salt, milk, and oil.

You need two bowls for this step. In a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

In a smaller bowl, mix your wet ingredients:

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Once the wet and dry ingredients are mixed separately, you can pour the wet ingredients into the dry. Stir gently just until the dry ingredients are moistened.

3. Swirl the batter

Now you’ll pour half of the batter into your prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mix over the batter in the pan. Then top that with the remaining batter, followed by the rest of the cinnamon sugar. Using a knife, gently swirl the batter. You’ll see the cinnamon sugar streak — that’s your swirl.

4. Bake

Pop the loaf pan in your heated oven and bake it for 45 to 50 minutes. You know it’s done when you insert a toothpick in the center and it comes out clean.

5. Cool and glaze

Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes.

While the bread cools, you can make the glaze. Mix these ingredients in a bowl:

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Using a flat, wooden spoon, drizzle the glaze over the bread. Slice and serve!
