Cincinnati Chili
This recipe isn’t your average chili, it’s Cincinnati Chili. This chili is perfect to prepare for football season game day parties. If you are looking for a chili recipe that has a different flavor from your normal chili, this recipe is perfect for you. What makes this chili so unique is the combination of flavors. Spices such as cinnamon and allspice help to create the great flavor of this chili. If you want you can prepare this recipe in large batches, you can by doubling the ingredients. The hamburger is this recipe is added right into the sauce mixture and not browned first—this helps to give the chili a little different texture. Once the chili has finished cooking it is topped off with shredded American cheese, diced onion and red kidney beans if desired. Enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2lbs ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • ¼ teaspoon allspice
  • 1 garlic clove (minced)
  • salt and ground black pepper
  • 1 ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon oregano
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 onions (finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1lb spaghetti noodles
  • 1 can red kidney beans
  • 1 cup shredded American cheese
  • 1 medium onion (finely diced)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large stockpot over medium-high heat. Add the 2 onions and cook slightly browned.
  2. Stir in chili powder, tomato paste, garlic, cinnamon, oregano, allspice, a ¾ teaspoon of ground black pepper and 1 teaspoon of salt.
  3. Cook until fragrant while stirring. Stir in chicken broth, tomato sauce, vinegar, and sugar.
  4. Crumble the raw ground beef into the chili mixture and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer until the burger is cooked and the mixture is slightly thickened. Add salt and pepper to taste if desired.
  6. While the mixture is cooking cook the spaghetti noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside. Heat the beans until they are warmed.
  7. Serve chili over spaghetti topped with beans, shredded cheese, and diced onions if desired.

  2. I made it and my husband and I thought it was very good. I didn’t add onions on top, seemed like too many onions for our liking.
