How Long To Cook Brisket Per Pound

Oven-roasted Brisket (6 to 7 servings)

Ingredients

Scale

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
  2. Place the brisket on a flat board or surface and spread some mustard on it. Apply a generous amount of mustard to all areas of the brisket so it’s well coated. Rub well into the meat with your hands.
  3. Turn the other side and do the same thing. Rub the mustard on all corners of the meat too.
  4. Coat both surfaces of the meat generously with kosher salt and black pepper. Do this cautiously so you don’t over-season your brisket and make it hard to eat.
  5. After you’re done seasoning the meat, place it in the pan, with the side containing the fat facing up.
  6. Place it in the preheated oven, and fill up a pan with 1 cup of water. Place the pan containing the water directly under the brisket to catch the drippings and add moisture to the meat.
  7. Let the brisket cook for 5 hours at 325° F still.
  8. After 5 hours, remove from the oven and check with a thermometer if the internal heat of the brisket is up to 165° F and if the meat is tender enough. If the meat isn’t tender enough, put it back into the oven and cook for another 30 minutes at 300° before taking it out.
  9. Your delicious brisket is ready to be served. You can eat it with gravy made from its juices, salad, or rice, or you can just have a simple drink to go with it.

This recipe for cooking brisket in the oven is very easy to follow and is sure to turn out delicious.
