Broccoli With Cheese Sauce (4 – 6 Servings)

  • 1 pound of fresh broccoli spears or florets
  • 12 ounces – shredded or cubed – American cheese
  • ⅔ cup of milk
  • ½ teaspoon of onion powder
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Dash ground cayenne, or hot sauce

  1. Broccoli should be steamed or cooked according to package directions.
  2. If you are using fresh broccoli, you can steam it for about 4 to 5 minutes, just until tender, in a covered pot over simmering water.
  3. Combine cheese, milk, and onion powder in a medium saucepan or saucier over medium heat.
  4. Heat for 7 minutes, stirring regularly until the cheese is melted and the mixture is smooth. Season to taste with salt and pepper, as well as ground cayenne or hot sauce if needed.
