Royal Red Robin burger recipe

Juicy, savory, and layered with classic toppings, the Royal Red Robin burger is a restaurant favorite that’s easy to enjoy at home. This burger starts with a seasoned beef patty grilled to perfection, then topped with melted American cheese, crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, smoky bacon, and creamy mayonnaise. The fried egg placed on top is the signature touch that makes each bite rich and satisfying. While it’s ideal cooked on an outdoor grill, it can just as easily be made in a skillet, bringing the same delicious flavors to your kitchen. Serve with hot, crispy fries for the full restaurant-style experience.

Why this recipe works

  • Signature fried egg topping. The runny yolk adds richness and a silky texture that elevates the burger beyond the ordinary.
  • Balanced layers of flavor. Juicy beef, smoky bacon, crisp vegetables, and creamy mayonnaise create a mix of tastes and textures that work beautifully together.
  • Melted cheese finish. American cheese melts evenly over the patty, adding both flavor and a smooth, creamy bite.
  • Flexible cooking method. Works perfectly on the grill for a smoky flavor or in a skillet for a quick indoor option.
  • Restaurant-style presentation. Assembled with care, this burger looks and tastes just like the version served at Red Robin.

Serving suggestions

  • Classic side dish. Pair with French fries, onion rings, or sweet potato fries for a true diner-style meal.
  • Extra toppings. Add avocado slices, grilled onions, or a dash of hot sauce for a personal twist.
  • Lighter option. Swap the regular bun for a lettuce wrap or a whole grain bun for a fresher, lighter take.
  • Meal pairing. Serve alongside a milkshake or iced tea for a nostalgic, restaurant-inspired experience.
  • Crowd-pleaser. Prepare a platter of these burgers for game day, backyard cookouts, or casual gatherings.

Description

Inspired by Red Robin’s Royal Red Robin Burger, this hearty cheeseburger is topped with crispy bacon, a fried egg, fresh lettuce and tomato, and creamy mayonnaise for the ultimate restaurant-style burger.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • Salt and ground black pepper
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 4 slices tomato
  • Lettuce
  • Mayonnaise
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon. Place the bacon strips in a cold skillet and set the heat to medium-low. Cook, turning frequently, until the bacon is crisp and deep golden brown, about 10 to 15 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  2. Prepare the burger patties. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal patties and season both sides with salt and pepper. Preheat an outdoor grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grates.

  3. Grill the burgers. Cook the patties, turning once, until they reach your desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of cheese and cook until melted.

  4. Toast the buns. Place the hamburger buns cut-side down on the grill and toast until lightly golden, about 1 to 2 minutes.

  5. Cook the eggs. Lightly coat a nonstick skillet or griddle with cooking spray and fry the eggs over medium heat to your preferred doneness.

  6. Assemble the burgers. Top each bottom bun with lettuce, a cheeseburger patty, two bacon halves, a tomato slice, and a fried egg. Spread mayonnaise on the top bun, place it over the burger, and serve immediately.
