Chicken cordon bleu burger recipe

If you enjoy chicken cordon bleu, you may want to try making a burger with similar ingredients.

This burger is a ground chicken patty seasoned, fried and topped with ham and swiss cheese. The burgers are topped with a mustard spread that is just a combination of mayonnaise and mustard.

You can either grill these, cook them in a frying pan or use a griddle. I personally used a griddle to cook these burgers.

You can top the burgers with any additional items you like such as lettuce and tomato. For the seasoning blend, you can really use whatever you want but I used garlic and herb seasoning. Enjoy.

Description

Chicken cordon bleu burger recipe with a chicken patty topped with ham and swiss cheese, plus a simple mustard spread on a toasted bun.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 tablespoon burger seasoning blend
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 4 slices deli ham
  • 4 slices swiss cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns

Mustard spread

  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare the spread
Heat a griddle, skillet, or grill over medium heat. In a small bowl, mix together the mustard spread ingredients (yellow mustard and mayonnaise) until smooth; set aside.
  2. Season and form the patties
Combine the ground chicken with the burger seasoning blend and olive oil in a bowl. Mix gently until just combined, then shape the mixture into evenly sized burger patties.
  3. Cook the chicken burgers
Place the patties on the heated griddle or skillet. Cook until the bottoms are browned and the patties are cooked through, about 5 to 6 minutes per side (until the internal temperature reaches 165°F / 74°C).
  4. Add ham and cheese
During the last minute of cooking, top each cooked patty with a slice of deli ham and a slice of Swiss cheese. Cover or fold a lid over the pan to help the cheese melt.
  5. Assemble the burgers
Toast the hamburger buns if desired. Spread the prepared mustard mixture on the buns, place a cheesy cordon bleu patty on each bottom bun, then add any additional toppings you like before placing the top bun.
