How to Cook a Beyond Burger

For the longest time, many vegans have craved a plant-based option that contends with meat burgers. And today, Beyond burgers have met that expectation. These low-fat veggie burgers are made from pea protein isolate and even boast up to 260 calories, making them an ideal option for healthy eaters. Plus, when you see them, you’d almost confuse them for the typical beef or ham patties.

Now, if the thrill of Beyond burgers has bought over you, you should know the various ways to cook them. And you’ll read on that here as you scroll on. But one takeaway you’d like is that Beyond burgers are straightforward to prepare. Plus, they take very little time and preparation.

You can make Beyond burgers like every other type around- on the grill. You can also prepare the patties on the stove in a skillet, roast them in the oven or dunk them in an air fryer.

On a Grill-Clean the rack of gunk and residue, and set to preheat at 400F. Then, coat the rack with olive oil add the Beyond burgers. Cook the patties on for three minutes, then flip and cook the other side simultaneously. You’ll want the Beyond burgers to reach a recommended internal temperature of 145F, with a deep brown.

In a Skillet-Place a skillet on medium-high heat and add some olive oil or butter. When the melted butter or oil is hot, add the Beyond burger patties and cook for three minutes. Then, flip the patties and cook the other side for another three minutes. Check that the internal temperature hits 165F before you serve. You’ll also want a deep browning on the outside for more crunchiness.

In an Oven-Set the oven to 400F and let it preheat. Then, place the Beyond burger patties on a baking tray or cookie sheet and cook for 12 to 15 minutes. If you prefer both sides to come out crispy, flip the patties at six or seven minutes into the cooking. And set them down when the internal temperature reaches 165F.

In an Air Fryer-Set to preheat to 370F- this waiting will take about five minutes. Then, line the basket with parchment and add the Beyond burgers. Cook in the air fryer for five minutes, flip and cook the other side for another four to five minutes. Take the patties down when the internal temperature indicates 165F.

Cooking Frozen Beyond Burgers

The Beyond burger packaging always advises you to thaw the patties before cooking them. Still, you can toss the burgers straight to cooking while frozen if you want to. But note that with frozen Beyond burgers, your recipe will extend by two minutes for each side. Also, make sure the recommended internal doneness of 165F is reached.

Grilled Beyond Burgers (2 Servings)

  • Two Beyond Meat Burgers
  • Two pairs, burger buns
  • One leaf lettuce
  • One onion, sliced
  • Tomato slices
  • One tablespoon Vegan mayonnaise
  • One slice Daiya cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat the air fryer to 370F, about five minutes. Then, line the basket with parchment paper.
  2. Place the Beyond burgers on the lined basket and cook for five minutes.
  3. Flip the Beyond burgers and cook for another four to five minutes. Set down when the internal temperature reaches 165F on a meat thermometer.
  4. Smear some vegan mayonnaise on the bottom bun and add the Beyond burgers. Top with the onion and tomato slices, along with the cheese and lettuce. Cover with the top bun and serve.
