Tips for Cooking Frozen Breaded Chicken in the Oven

Defrost the chicken – defrosting the frozen breaded chicken helps them to be less tough when prepared because the ice in them will be melted. It also helps the chicken to cook faster in the oven than when the frozen breaded chicken is ice cold.

To defrost the chicken, leave it out on the oven baking tray and allow it to come to room temperature for a few minutes, or until the ice on its surface begins to thaw.

Use some oil – oil helps the breaded chicken to develop a nicer golden color and a shiny surface on the outside. It also prevents the breaded chicken from sticking together or developing a cracked exterior. Just spray some oil on the oven baking tray you’ll be working with using a spray can, you can drizzle some oil on the surface of the chicken, too.

Rest the chicken – giving your breaded chicken rest after cooking it will allow it to absorb and lock in its juices. It helps to cool off the breaded chicken, too, because it would be sizzling hot when it’s out of the oven. Rest your chicken on a plate for 2 to 3 minutes.

Use a foil sheet – for a cleaner preparation and cooking, use a foil sheet on your baking tray. The foil will also help to catch all the juices from the chicken which can later be used as a light sauce for the chicken.

Season the chicken to give your breaded chicken a little more flavor, season liberally with salt and pepper. You can also drizzle some melted butter on top or add any other seasoning you’d like to add.

Make a sauce – if you don’t want to use the breaded chicken juices for sauce, or if the juices are not much to be utilized, you can always use ketchup, tartare sauce, or whatever kind of dipping sauce you have in your pantry at that time.

How long to cook the chicken – the cooking time for breaded chicken varies depending on the thickness of the chicken or how long it takes to defrost at room temperature. So if your chicken is larger or thicker than other frozen breaded chicken, the time it’ll spend in the given would be longer.

Preheat the oven – a preheated oven will help the chicken to cook thoroughly within a shorter period of time. It also helps the internal heat of the chicken to rise, which in turn will help to prevent the inside of the chicken from getting undercooked.
