How Long Does it Take for a Frozen 10lb Ham to Cook?

The preparation time of a frozen ham depends on whether or not you want your ham thawed.  Either way, you will still come out with delicious and flavorful meat.  It takes 18- 20 minutes for a thawed ham to cook a pound of ham and 50% longer to cook a frozen ham that isn’t melted.

Thawing your frozen ham

Thawing ham in the refrigerator is the safest method. It takes about 4-5 hours to thaw a pound of ham. Therefore, it will take 2-3 days to effectively thaw your 10 lb ham in a refrigerator. You can still leave your ham for 3-5 days in the fridge after it has been thawed before cooking it.

You can also thaw your ham in cold water to save time. Simply put your frozen ham in an airtight plastic bag and put it in your sink filled with cold water. It takes 30 minutes to thaw a pound using this method. Drain the water every half hour and replace the water to make sure the water always stays cold. Cook your ham immediately after thawing.
