Measure your rice appropriately – It is critical to accurately measure your rice. Ensure that you keep the Oster measurement cup that came with the rice cooker unit you purchased. It is a “rice cooker” measurement cup, not a conventional measuring cup used in the United States. This means that 5.33 ounces of uncooked rice equals one cup of rice cup using the Oster measurement cup’s standards that come with the rice cooker unit. Up to 5 full Oster rice cookers measuring cups of uncooked rice or 10 (or 5.33 ounces), Oster cups of cooked rice can be cooked at once within the rice cooker. Oster rice cookers should not be used to cook instant rice.

Ideal water to rice ratio – Put the quantity of raw rice you plan to use in the rice cooker’s inner pot after measuring it. One cup of uncooked rice should yield about two cups of boiled rice. Per cup of raw rice is cooked, add 1½ cups of water; however, different types of rice require varying amounts of water.

The oriental kind of soft, long-grain rice takes twice the water needed for raw rice. Basmati rice requires 1½ cups of water for each cup, while brown rice will typically require 2 cups plus an extra two tablespoons of water. Use a little more water for stickier rice and a little less if you want the results to be fluffier.

Always rinse rice before cooking – Cooked rice gets an awful odor from the bran. It is important to make sure your rice is completely rinsed before cooking it. Rinsing with water eliminates bran effectively and completely.

How to use the steamer tray – You can also cook steamed veggies using the steamer tray component of an Oster rice cooker. Vegetables that are steamed this way tend to retain their nutrients and vibrant color. To cook veggies in the steamer tray of an Oster rice cooker, keep the following in mind:

  • Place the vegetables in the steamer tray after peeling and cutting them into small pieces.
  • If you’re cooking 10 ounces of corn, green beans, peas, broccoli, or mixed vegetables, fill the inner pot with ⅓ cup of water. The third cup of water is also required for eight ounces of chopped cauliflower or carrots and five ounces of spinach.
  • Apart from corn, which takes 40 minutes to cook, and spinach, which takes 30 to 40 minutes to prepare, all of the other vegetables listed above take 30 to 35 minutes to cook.

Tips for Cleaning – Oster rice cookers should be cleaned after each usage. When cleaning, keep the following in mind:

  • When not in use and before the cleaning process, unplug the rice cooker. Do not submerge the heating unit, cord, or plug in water or other liquids. Before cleaning the rice cooker, let it cool fully.
  • To mix food within the inner pot or remove food from it, use the rice spoon or a wooden tool. Metal utensils should never be used.
  • Wipe the exterior of the heating unit with a moist cloth or sponge to clean it. Using a soft towel, dry completely.
  • The inner pot is typically lined with a non-stick coating to make cleanup easier. So, to clean it, simply take the inner pot out of the rice cooker and pour in some hot tap water. Allow it to remain this way for a few minutes before washing with warm soapy water. Afterward, rinse the pot well and pat it dry.
  • Dishwasher-safe parts of the rice cooker include the inner pot, cover, rice spoon, and measuring cup.
  • Ensure the rice grains don’t cling to the heating plate at the bottom of the heating base. If this happens, take it out right away. A non-abrasive pad can be employed to remove rice grains that get stuck to the heating plate. Polish the region to ensure proper connection between the heating plate and the inner pot’s bottom.
  • To clean the rice cooker, avoid using bleach, vinegar, or other harsh chemicals.
