Tips for Cooking Ground Chicken

You can grind the chicken- some people tend to hesitate when purchasing ground chicken because ground chicken is known to have health risks attached to it. Bacteria might be mixed into the chicken when it goes into its grinding process, which makes it more unsafe to eat if it’s undercooked.

Just know that you can grind your chicken at home using a grinder. Refrigerate the chicken for about half an hour before it goes into the grinder. This allows it to grind more effortlessly. If you don’t own a grinder, just ensure your ground chicken is thoroughly cooked so you don’t eat unsafe meat.

You can make gravy- just because it’s not a whole chicken doesn’t mean you can’t eat it with gravy or sauce. To give more structure to your meal and ensure it’s tasty, add sauces like apple cider, grapeseed sauce, soy sauce, or even ketchup, or make gravy at home if you don’t want to use sauce.

Rest your ground chicken- when cooking ground chicken, it turns from its original pink color to pure white, and again from pure white to slightly brown. This process involves a medium-high level of heat which requires you to allow your ground chicken to rest when it’s ready to eat. Resting allows it to absorb some of its juices in the pan while also giving it a chance to cool off.

Use a wooden spoon- wooden spoons are excellent for cooking ground chicken and a whole lot of other foods. This is because wooden spoons are firmer to hold, they don’t burn easily and they don’t transfer heat from the pan to your hands, unlike metal spoons.

Be generous with seasoning- ground chicken doesn’t contain enough flavoring on its own, so make sure you add a lot of seasoning when cooking this dish. Ground chicken is incredible at absorbing spices too because it’s already in its minced form and not cooked whole.

Use some vegetables- not only seasoning can make your ground chicken interesting, but you can also add cut-up pieces of carrots, cucumbers, green peas, etc into your ground chicken too. Or you could make a salad to go alongside with it if you’re going for a more healthier approach. Salads are incredibly tasty with ground chicken and incredibly nutritious too!

Preheat your pan- to ensure the chicken cooks thoroughly, preheat your pan for about 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the size of the ground chicken you have. Also, add a little bit of oil after you’ve preheated the pan. This helps the chicken not to stick to the pan or burn easily.
