Tips to Note when Making a Hamburger

Hamburgers are pretty easy to make but with these tips, you’d be able to avoid some little mistakes in the kitchen.

Use lean meat that has a low-fat content; if you’ll be mixing the hamburger patties from scratch use meat that is low in fat because it would provide a juicy and flavorful hamburger that is not high in carbs. You could also substitute ground beef with ground chicken or ground turkey.

You can cook them from frozen; if the hamburger patties are frozen, you could thaw them if you have extra time on your hands or you could just cook them from frozen but you’d need to increase the cooking time by 2-3 minutes. The air fryer cooks frozen patties well, just cook the frozen patties for about 8-9 minutes on each side in the air fryer and check for doneness with a meat thermometer when this time is completed, if it needs more time put it back in for a few minutes.

Shape them evenly; after mixing the ground meat and the seasoning try to mold them into even sizes so they cook at the same time and use your thumb to press down at the center of the molded patties.

Wrap with aluminum foil and bake last minute; this tip is optional but it produces delicious cheesy results, after you’ve seasoned and baked the patties for 25 minutes, place the cheese on top of the patties and bake for a minute for it to melt then remove from the oven and build the burgers on top aluminum foil without any extra toppings just the buns, meat, and cheese.

Wrap the burgers and place them on different baking sheets and bake in the oven for about 2-3 minutes, the cheese would melt into the meat and into the toasted buns to create a rich flavor.

Use your favorite toppings; customize the hamburgers to your taste by using the ingredients you like, if you want them fresh add some vegetables like tomatoes lettuce, and onion. If you want them cheesier add extra cheese toppings and if you want them spicy and flavorful add some smoky paprika and hot spicy pepper flakes, bbq sauce, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, etc.

Cooking Methods and Time for Hamburgers

There are several ways you cook to make a delicious batch of hamburgers and they include;

Oven baking; this has to do with making hamburgers in an oven, The oven is first preheated to 375°F then the burgers are seasoned whether homemade or store-bought patties, then placed on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or cooking spray before placing them in the oven to cook for 25 minutes. You could add the cheese to the meat and cook for an extra minute or two before serving.

Air frying; the burgers are seasoned to preference and then placed in an air fryer that has been pre-heated to 360° F, the hamburger patties are then added to the air fryer and cooked for 6 minutes then flipped to the other side and cooked for 4-5 minutes until the beef is browned and reaches 160°F. You could also add the cheese to the meat and cook for about a minute.

Grilling; in this method, the hamburger patties are seasoned and placed on a grill preheated to 450°F and cooked for 15 minutes in total. The cheese is also added last minute to the patties and the buns are toasted on the grill before serving.

On a stovetop; after the hamburgers are seasoned they are placed in a large heated skillet over medium-high heat to sear and lock the juices in. You can add little cooking oil or choose not to.

After the burgers have been seared and browned nicely halfway up the sides flip them and cook on the other side, check for doneness with a thermometer to see if it’s up to 160°F.

Add the cheese so it melts on the meat for a minute and serves with buns and other ingredients.
